Plot of house number 10 at the Admiralty Embankment until the 1870s belonged to Admiralty. After the output of the shipyard from this territory, the liberated land was given to development. The first owner of the site in 1880 was the wife of a survival adviser O. N. Rukavishnikov. In 1881, a house was built for the municipal man here on the project of the architect Alexander Fyodorovich Krasovsky. Above the building on the Admiralty Embankment Krasovsky worked together with the Academician of Architecture by Vladimir Rodionovich Kurzanov. The daughter of the owner of the house Elena in 1897 married Vladimir Dmitrievich Nabokov and became the mother of the famous Russian writer Vladimir Vladimirovich Nabokov.
